Coverage of CES 2001 from Las Vegas, USA — January 6-9, 2001

"What do they cost?" was the question most often heard in the Soliloquy room, and it referred to the new Soliloquy 6.5 speakers, which were driven by Cary's new CAD-280 SE amp ($4000), also called the "V12." A Cary SLP-98 preamp ($2500) and CD-306 CD player ($5000) rounded out the electronics. All cabling was from Analysis Plus, and also in use were two Sound Application CF-X power-line filters, the Spider Rack from Finite Elemente, and a full complement of Vistek Aurios MIBs. The treble sweetness and bass slam of this system were impossible to ignore. Oh, and the speakers cost $5995 per pair — but look and sound like they cost much more.

CES 2001 — Soundstage! Showstopper!

Soliloquy's new flagship speaker, the 6.5 ($5995 per pair), was designed by Phil Jones, who also showed his AAD speakers in Las Vegas.
